On this day (July 2nd) in 1776, the Declaration of Independence was approved in a closed session of the Second Continental Congress and signed (allegedly) 2 days later on July 4th. On this day we celebrate the birth of our independent country. And as John Adams wrote to his wife regarding the day of independence, “It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade….”. Indeed. Happy 4th of July, Independence Day, from all of us at the Central Sarasota Farmers Market to all of you.
This week at the Market our favorite Dessert and bread makers Lisa and John at Cheesecake Me will have some new delights. John is cooking up candied bacon. CANDIED BACON! Lisa will be baking something called Doughnut Muffins…. we’re not sure what that is, but anything that has doughnut and muffin in it has to be good.
The highlight, though, is Lisa’s original Mason Jar Cake with Lemon, Blueberry, Strawberry, whipped cream, and cake. Yes, red, white, and blue.
New Vendor, Exotic Plants and Orchids
We are thrilled to welcome our latest vendor Lynn from Pomello Park Nursery, who sells exotic plants, orchids, and creative plant presentations like the hanging shell plants.
You really should see their booth. They have one of the best booth presentations we’ve seen with a Mad Hatter Plant Mannequin, hanging plants, and a “Chia” head.
